Naina Devi Temple:

Naina Devi Temple is one of the "ShaktiPeeth" among the famous "Peeths" of India. It is situated on the top of a hill in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh. Naina Devi temple is one the most beautiful temple present in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Naina Devi Temple History:

There are several stories associated with the establishment of this temple. One of the most popular story is: Sati Mata burnt herself alive in the sacrificial Yagna. This made Mahadev distressed and made him lose all his senses. He picked body of Sati Mata on his shoulder and started performing his Shiv Tandav. The energy from the Tandav dance could lead to a disaster. This possibility frightened all the gods in heaven.This provoked Narayan to release his Sudarshan Chakra that lead to cut Sati Mata's body into 51 pieces. The place where eyes of Sati Mata fell down later known as "Shri Naina Devi Temple". Naina means Eyes.

Architecture of Naina Devi Temple:

Naina Devi's Temple architecture reflects a rich heritage of Himachal Pradesh. It is built in North Indian style. Structure of temple is decorated with detailed carvings and colorful paintings that describes the stories from mythology. Two lion statues, represents "Vahaan" (the vehicle) guards the inner shrine.

Attractions of Temple:

Shri Naina Devi Ji temple offers a breathtaking view of surrounding landscape. The temple stands at 1177 meters above sea level, offering beautiful views of Anandpur Sahib Gurudwara and Gobind Sagar Lake nearby. There is a natural spring near known as "Naina Sarovar".
